Eagle Pass Revelstoke Heli Ski Trip
I was a late recruit on boys trip with 11 other guys to go on a heli ski trip up in the Canadian Rockies- truly a bucket list trip for me. It happened to come to fruition in my 50th birthday year! 😜
Trip Recap
- Day 1: Enjoyed a steak dinner and cocktails in Banff after arriving in Calgary.
- Day 2: Road trip through Canadian Rockies to Revelstoke for skiing, then Heli-skiing weekend adventure.
- Days 3 to 5: Eagle Pass Heli Ski lodge: 3 nights of 5-star comfort, epic heli skiing!
- Day 6: Reluctantly leaving the breathtaking views of Banff, heading home from Calgary airport.
Highlights
Banff is a must see mountain town, Fairmont Springs is a beautiful hotel. It reminded me of the Shining Hotel! Thankfully it was full of people.
Eagle Pass Heli is unique- smaller groups, beautiful lodge experience (up to 12 guests fill lodge). I can’t wait go back!
The guides, lodge staff, lodge bar and amazing food! Thank you Chef.
Day 1
Flew into Calgary and made our way to beautiful Banff for the night. Had a nice steak dinner and cocktails with the boys!
Day 2
Hit the road for a breathtaking drive through the Canadian Rockies making our way to Revelstoke for an afternoon of skiing at the resort – a warm-up for our Heli- skiing weekend.
Days 3 to 5
Spent the next 3 nights in the Eagle Pass Heli Ski lodge! Imagine the comfort and amenities of a mansion ski in ski out mountain home but with an incredible staff catering to your every need - truly a 5 star experience! Safety is a priority with this outfit. You are thoroughly trained on avalanche and tree well dangers the first morning. Despite being grounded our first day due to the cold, the next 2 days of heli skiing were amazing. With over 300,000 acres to choose from, you are guaranteed fresh tracks on every run. The weather was cold but the snow was deep. Our Eagle Pass guides and pilot were incredible, making first timers feel very much at ease in the backcountry.
Day 6
Time to go home. Spent 1 night back in Banff, flew home from Calgary

January can be cold in the Canadian Rockies. Consider going in February or March to avoid the cold. Unfortunately we had extremely cold weather and were grounded day 1 because the helicopter can’t fly in minus 30 below - it was minus 29. Eagle Pass gives you a refund for days you don’t fly.

Low for me was spraining my right knee in a freak accident coming to a stop in the trees. I was literally going 1 mph when my left ski got stuck in a snow well and cranked my right knee before I could pop out of my boots. I had to sit out the last day, which was extremely disappointing, knowing my ski season was over. All the guys were afraid to tell me how epic it was at high Alpine the last day, but I was happy for them!
