Highlights
Wildflowers, arts, music, hiking, camping, good company
Day 1
We landed in Denver and explored the town before driving up to Red Rocks Amphitheater for a show. It was by far the best venue I have ever been to, with incredible acoustics set by a breathtaking backdrop.
Days 2 to 3
We drove 4.5 hours to Crested Butte and took multiple stops along the way to enjoy the sights. It was peak wildflower season and the hills were covered in gorgeous blooms. We had a campground in mind and arrived at sunset to learn that it was at capacity. We scrambled with no service and luckily found a spot for our group 45 mins down the road in Almont at Campfire Ranch. The site was set against the mountain and provided unlimited firewood, showers and a bathroom. We were happy the way it worked out- as our original campsite had no amenities.
When we woke up, we took an 8 mile hike to the Devil’s Punch Bowl. Unbeknownst to us, we had to make multiple river crossings in frigid temperatures- but we made it! Along the way we met a couple other hikers (who had just met each other) that were hiking with their dogs. We trekked back to base together and were offered a ride back in an offroad jeep by one of our new hiking friends. We were thrilled to knock off an hour of our hike, and enjoyed the company of the Professor we met and his dog. When we arrived back to base, we enjoyed a cold swim in the icy waters of the lake.
We ended the night sitting around the camp fire and woke up the next morning to take another short hike among the wildflowers. We went into town for coffee and lunch, enjoying the famous pizza spot Secret Stash. The drive home was just as enjoyable as any other part of the trip.
Day 4
On our final day in Denver we went out for sushi and saw a local artist in the arts district.

-
We would have planned out a paid camp site in advance- we thought we were going to have to sleep in our car as it was getting dark when we realized we had no where to stay.
