Day 1
We arrived in Waterton in the late morning, and the fresh mountain air instantly made us feel like we’d made the right choice. Checking into the Waterton Lakes Lodge Resort was a breeze—the staff was so welcoming, and the room was everything we’d hoped for: cozy, comfortable, and with a view of the mountains that made us smile every time we looked outside.
After unpacking and freshening up, we decided to explore the townsite a bit. It’s such a charming little place with its mix of quaint shops, cafés, and a relaxed vibe. We grabbed a quick bite at a local café—a fresh, hearty soup and sandwiches—and then wandered through a couple of boutique stores. It was fun picking up little souvenirs and just enjoying the laid-back pace.
In the late afternoon, we headed to the lakeshore. Walking along the serene waters of Upper Waterton Lake, hand in hand, was magical. The reflections of the surrounding mountains on the water were so picture-perfect it felt unreal. We found a spot to sit for a while and just took it all in, letting the calm wash over us.
Before heading back to the lodge, we decided to take a little detour to Cameron Falls, which is only a short walk from the townsite. The waterfall was beautiful and surprisingly peaceful in the evening light. We stood there for what felt like forever, just soaking up the sound of the rushing water and snapping a few photos.
By the time we got back to our room, we were tired in the best way. We ordered room service (because why not?) and spent the evening cuddled up, talking about our favorite moments from the day and how excited we were for what was to come. It was the perfect start to our honeymoon—relaxing, romantic, and full of those little moments you never want to forget.
Day 2
We kicked off the next day with breakfast at a little café in the townsite—strong coffee and fresh pastries to fuel us up for the hike ahead. We chose Bear’s Hump for our morning adventure. The trail is short but steep, and by the time we got to the top, we were both out of breath... but wow, the view was worth every step. Standing there, looking out over the lakes and mountains, it felt like the whole world was just ours.
After the hike, we found the perfect picnic spot under a cluster of trees. We’d packed some snacks, and sitting there together, munching on sandwiches with the sound of birds and a gentle breeze, felt like something out of a movie.
In the afternoon, we decided to take a scenic drive to Red Rock Canyon, one of Waterton’s most beautiful spots. The red and pink hues of the canyon walls were so vibrant, and the contrast with the lush greenery made the whole place feel magical. We walked along the short trails and even dipped our feet in the cool stream running through the canyon. It was such a fun and refreshing experience—definitely a highlight of the trip.
To wrap up the day, we treated ourselves to a couple’s massage at a nearby spa. It was heavenly. By the time we walked out, we felt completely rejuvenated and ready to enjoy a quiet evening back at the lodge.
Day 3
On our last full day, we decided to see Waterton from the water. We joined a boat tour on Upper Waterton Lake, and the views from the boat were nothing short of magical. The guide shared some fascinating stories about the area, but honestly, we were mostly lost in our little bubble, holding hands and pointing out the most stunning spots.
After the boat tour, we headed to Blakiston Falls for one last adventure. The walk to the falls was easy and scenic, with a lovely forested trail leading us there. The falls themselves were breathtaking—a cascade of rushing water surrounded by rocky cliffs and lush greenery. We stood on the viewing platform, mesmerized by the beauty and snapping a few last photos to remember the moment. It was the perfect way to cap off our outdoor adventures.
Later, we wandered through the townsite one last time, exploring little boutiques and art galleries. We picked up a hand-carved wooden keepsake as a reminder of this trip. As the day wound down, we dressed up a bit for dinner at one of Waterton’s quaint restaurants. Sitting by a window with views of the lake, enjoying a candlelit meal together, was the perfect way to wrap up our honeymoon.
