After spending a few weeks in Spain, I was ready for the beach. Malaga was a short drive from Sevilla and appealed to my desire for sun, sand and of course more tapas.
Ireland had not been on my list as I envisioned it as a mostly rainy and dreary place. The opposite of what I preferred during the early spring. A chance meeting with my friend Justin at our local Chili’s would soon change this. Enthused by my Euro-trip and eager for adventure, Justin simply posed the question, "Where can I meet you?" It was decided that Ireland would be the spot. Two weeks later, we arrived!
Ever since studying Spanish in high school, Spain has been on my list. Madrid seemed like the logical place to start. I knew little about it before arriving other than pork was a big deal and their soccer team Real Madrid was one of the best in the world.
I had been traveling solo in Spain for a month and my girlfriend was coming to visit. Barcelona sounded like the ideal destination to go with a significant other. It had beautiful art, rich food, an exciting night life, and the beach. There are enough pop songs about it that I had to visit it myself.
I desperately wanted to eat pasta and drink wine in Italy as well as visit the popular historical sites.
I was traveling in Europe and the cheapest flight from Dublin to anywhere was Budapest. God bless Ryanair. I knew absolutely nothing at the destination. This excited me.
I had dreamed about visiting London since I was a kid. I had a quick stopover there as I was making my way to Dublin. British people seemed so similar to me, an American! Yet, their accents were absolutely delightful. I was ecstatic to meet some British people and eat some fish and chips.
The annual "boys trip" picked Mexico City for its incredible food, unique cultural activities, and the opportunity to visit one of the largest cities in the world.
