Day 1
We checked into our hotel, a cute little spot with themed rooms. Then we explored the town a bit as we meandered towards the brewpub dinner. After a day of flying and driving, fish and chips with a couple beers was a very nice end to the day.
Day 2
We started with a breakfast at Red Kettle, then grabbed our spots for the parade. The parade was quite the spectacle for an apparently quiet town. Seemed like all the businesses in the county turned up, together with the police, fireman, and some other govt departments. It was a lot of fun to see everyone having a good time.
After the parade we grabbed ice cream, and spent a few hours visiting shops around town. There's a neat vintage shop we visited, and we even found an art market with live music.
Later in the day we popped down to the palm springs, but it being July meant 100+ degree temperatures so the city was mostly empty. Still, we found a good taco spot for late lunch, and then headed back towards the mountains for our last item of the day.
Horseback riding at Cottonwood Canyon Ranch. This was a blast, I hadn't been on a horse since I was a kid. They introduced us to the horses, then we went over the basics before heading out on a relaxed ride through the hills with the guide. The staff was helpful, horses were well behaved, the sun was setting, great end to the day. We headed back to the inn, and left in the morning.
Overall a great, short little getaway for the weekend, and a nice way to spend quality time with my mom.

Not much, can't really go wrong on this kind of trip. Personally, I wouldn't stay more than a couple days though.
