Amazing time in Peru & The Amazon
My husband was an anthropology major in college. He always wanted to see Machu Picchu. We took the family to Machu Picchu for his 50th birthday and our 20th anniversary!
Trip Recap
- Day 1: Excited for my trip from Tampa to Lima with a stay at Wyndham!
- Day 2: I can't wait to experience the luxury of Tambo del Inka in Urubamba.
- Day 3: Attending Sacred Valley tour, followed by dinner reservation at 3 Keros restaurant.
- Day 4: Exploring Ollantaytambo's ancient ruins and venturing to Machu Picchu via luxury train.
- Day 5: Excited for second visit to Machu Picchu and Huayna Picchu, and staying at Palacio del Inka.
- Day 6: Excited for an unforgettable dining experience at Cicciolina during my Cusco tour!
- Day 7: Excited for flights and canoe transfer to Inkaterra Reserva Amazonica in Puerto Maldonado.
- Days 8 to 9: Exploring the vibrant rainforest of Inkaterra Reserva Amazonica, a truly immersive experience.
- Day 10: Excited for flight, museum visit, and dinner in Lima, Peru's JW Marriott Hotel.
- Day 11: Excited for a delicious dinner at Osso in Lima after a day tour.
- Day 12: Finally heading back to reality after an incredible journey abroad.
Highlights
Staying in the Amazon without internet was an amazing way to unplug from everything
Tambo del Inka was a fabulous resort with amazing location and food
June is winter in Peru. The temps were wonderful, even in the Amazon
We used a travel agent to plan this trip and were very glad we did with so many moving parts.
We also had a personal guide in each area which truly enhanced the trip.
Sleeping at the hotel on Machu Picchu was a fantastic experience. Much better than staying in the town below.
The food in Peru is delicious!
