This was a much-needed get-together with my hometown girlfriends! We wanted to meet in a place each of us had never visited, so we decided on Sedona for the beautiful scenery and tranquil setting.

Trip Recap

  • Day 1: Enjoying a sunset dinner with girlfriends at Enchantment Resort in Boynton Canyon.
  • Day 2: Carla's guided hike through Boynton Canyon was an unexpectedly enlightening and enjoyable experience.

Traveling to Sedona in September–apparently a great time to visit!

Day 1

Arrived at the Phoenix airport, met up with girlfriends, and shared an Uber up to Sedona. It was a quick and scenic drive to the Enchantment Resort in Boynton Canyon. We arrived in time for cocktails and an early dinner outside at Tii Agavo , the casual restaurant at the hotel, and watched the surrounding mountains change color as the sun was setting.

Day 2

We headed out early to meet our hiking guide, Carla, at the beautiful on-site Trail House. She led us up the Boynton Canyon trail, just on the other side of the resort–teaching us about local flora and fauna, and to experience the vortex energies of the area, ending with a mediation. I didn't think I would enjoy a guided hike, but I loved our incredibly knowledgeable guide. Had we gone on our own, I wouldn't have stopped to sniff a Ponderosa Pine (smells like vanilla) or known the deer we encountered was specifically a mule deer. What a great experience! Afterward, we enjoyed pool time at the beautiful resort pool, sipping cocktails and enjoying apps, then pulled ourselves together for a drive into Sedona. We had a delicious dinner at the very cool and eclectic Pump House.

Day 3

Woke up and took a quick solo hike up the Vista Trail, just behind Mii Amo Spa, where we would spend the rest of our day. Loved this hike–stunning views and found myself sitting in a cave on my own, with views of the Kachina Woman rock formation. I felt peaceful as I headed back to meet my friends, spa day ahead. My service was fabulous–I enjoyed the ancestral stone massage–then headed down to the spa pool, reserved for guests of the hotel and spa only. It was fun to sip on cocktails at the pool, while we tried to figure out who the tattooed rock star and lady friend was. Purely fun cocktail speculation. Dinner was perfect, at the Che Ah Chi restaurant on site. I don't think we could have left the resort if we tried!

Anything you would add or do differently?

  • Be sure to plan your ride in advance back to the Phoenix airport. My flight was early morning, and I failed to plan for a ride the night before. I didn't get a lot of sympathy or help from the Enchantment staff.
