Day 1
After arriving Thursday night, I woke up well-rested Friday morning and ventured to the breakfast place called Aloha Praha. We went there for brunch, but it has great reviews as a cocktail bar & club. I had the tofu toast with a side of bacon and a hot chai latte (the best chai I've ever had). They give you a little platter with sweetener, toppings, and your coffee. The place is very aesthetic as well.
After this, we walked around the city trying to orient ourselves, and found the famous Charles Bridge. It was just as beautiful as the photos, even when it was cloudy. There were several painters, people playing jazzy music, and little handmade jewelry pop-ups, and an amazing view of the city.
We made our way to St. Vitus cathedral, which we found out took 600 years to build. We continued walking around and spontaneously sight-seeing, and ended up making a perfect accidental loop around the city back to our Airbnb (a cute, spacious, 70s vibe apartment).
After some down time, we got ready to go see some nightlife. After getting a chimney cake filled with nutella, we waited about 30 minutes in line for the famous Vzorkovna Dog Bar. Someone in line described it as an "adult playground" and it was just that. It was like an escape room with 15 rooms, several bar stations, a big maze, with nooks and crannies where you can climb up ladders to go sit in lofts and caves. The drinks were creative and delicious. It was the coolest bar I've ever been to, not to mention the bartender was the most skilled I've ever seen! After that we headed to the Karlovy Lazne Nightclub, a five story club with different music genres/eras on each floor (I spent most of my time on the oldies floor)! It was the coolest club I've ever been to-- although touristy, I highly recommend if you are a tourist!
Day 2
We woke up slightly later after a long night at the club, and went to breakfast at Bistro Monk and had the most delicious blueberry pancakes, strawberry matcha, and savory breakfast dishes.
After that the sun came out and we went to explore more sights, came across a cute farmer's market, and took the tram places. We got hot apple juice with honey at I Need Coffee! and they did not have to-go cups, just reusable cups you could pay a little extra to take away with you. We all did this and got super cute reusable coffee cups!
We randomly went to the Jellyfish museum inside a mall outside the city, but it was incredibly meh. Afterwards, we went to Old Town Square as the sun was setting and it was one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen. We oohed and ahhhhed at the old colorful buildings and popped bubbles with little kids. Definitely the best photo opp too.
When it got dark we got tickets to the Museum of Communism and learned about Prague's history in relation to World War II and the Cold War. It was so interesting and informational, so if you're a history buff, I recommend this experience!
That night, we went to our Medieval Dinner experience that we booked ahead of time for 67$ for five courses and unlimited drinks. This was my favorite part of the trip! There were shirtless vikings and elaborate dancers and bagpipe players surrounding you with torches and props as you ate your delicious meals and drank your bottomless wine/beer.
After, we went to Anonymous bar and experienced the famous masked bartenders; however, it was definitely less dramatic then it is on TikTok/online.
Day 3
We had to wake up early to get to the airport, so we had time for a quick last breakfast in the city. We went to Bella Vida cafe, where we got super delicious bread and eggs and nutella banana crepes. It was a cozy atmosphere with a little library inside-- felt very homie.
Anything you would add or do differently?
-
Be careful with the tram ticketing-- you can either buy a five day pass for the tram or tap your card immediately upon entering, and we were caught without tickets when it was busy at night and got fined 1000 czech / about 50 USD.
-
If you want to go to Anonymous Bar, make sure you have a reservation! They declined everyone without one because it is so popular.
-
Just don't go to the Jellyfish museum. It had a raving website but was just a letdown... not to mention many of the jellyfish were dead inside the tanks:(
-
Get in museum lines early! We wanted to see the Prague Castle but it was a zoo midday.
