Sicilia's Solo Europe Trip!

Vienna- My first stop was Vienna! I had little trouble with getting the train, but the people were so nice and had so much patience to help me buy the right ticket and get on the right train to my hostel. Very good first impression! In this city, I only stayed one full day from the overall trip. The city was awesome, many street events were happening at that moment. I wanted to go to an Opera concert, but I didn’t have with me proper clothing to go to those types of events. So instead, I went to Schonbrunn Palace without expecting much. However, I was captivated by the immensity of the palace garden. I planned to spend 1h over there, but ended up spending much more, without even going inside! To be honest is a place you can spend an entire day, so much to see and the only method to move around is by foot. After my express visit to the palace, I went back to the city centre and roamed through the city, reaching places such as the Cathedral of San Steven of Vienna, the building of the Vienna’s Opera (with many stalls selling tickets), the Albertina and roughly did a quick stroll at the Prater, famous for its ferries wheel.

Bratislava- Because of Bratislava, my stay in Vienna was shortened by a day. I didn’t know, Bratislava was so close to Vienna! I decided spontaneously and changed my plans. That’s how I decided to spend one day in Bratislava, a city where one could observe the hardship that has suffered over time. Part of the city was old, houses had holes and streets were quite deserted. The other side was brighter and crowded. I visited the city Blue Church, which in my opinion was kind of weird and not as amazing as I saw in the pictures; the Bratislavsky Hrad, a castle on top of a hill, this place loved it, amazing view of the Danubio and to the Most SNP bridge.

Strbske Pleso- This place was a little random and out of the way too. You know the pictures that a window computer shows you on your screensaver. Then this was one of them, I super randomly took a night bus for about 7 hours to get to Propad where I would stay for 2 nights. Not the nicest hostel but it was relatively closed to the train station. So, after having a rough night on the bus because I just couldn’t sleep and arrived at 5:00h in the morning. I couldn’t do the check-in to my hostel, even though I was dead tired. So, I went for breakfast and had to wander around the town until check-in time.

Propad was a small town, those that you can visit in less than a day. Anyway, after resting for the night, I went out early morning to get on the train to my destination! The ticket to go there was so cheap, I think it was a 4 euros return ticket! The train toured around snowed mountains, valleys… Allowing me to contemplate breath-taking landscapes. Many ski lovers got on the train to get off at the same stop. Strbske Pleso is a small town situated in the north area of Slovakia in the High Tatras of the Tatra National Park. My main purpose to go here was to visit the second biggest glacial mountain lake in this country, which I enjoyed very much.

The lake was frozen, so I couldn’t take a very nice picture of it, like the one I saw on my screensaver. However, the nature I was surrounded by, was even more than what I expected. After walking around the lake, I decided to go up to the ski site, regrettably not to ski, I’m not good at it. I just went up with the cable car where I enjoyed the view and stopped by the top of the High Tatra for a Slovakian tea while enjoying the white mountain view ahead.

It was an amazing express short trip, I planned it this way so I wouldn’t get bored. I do admit that I had no time to see much of each place, but I don’t regret my trip. This style of travelling, I would absolutely do it again!
