Highlights

  • Rose Icon

Visiting various yoga studios was a highlight to us! We only went to two, but there were more to explore!

Day 1

Once we arrived in Puerto Vallarta we jumped in a car service for a 45 minute ride to Sayulita. We rented through VRBO and stayed in a two bedroom, second floor condo on the beach. It was called Casa Luly on the North beach of Sayulita. It had an open kitchen and living room area under a palapa, bedrooms were behind doors and enclosed. We explored the cute town and had dinner at a seafood restaurant across the street from our condo.

Day 2

On day 2 we woke up and went to Vinyasa 2 yoga at The Rose Room. Great rooftop yoga, variety of classes, good instructors. Stay after and get a delicious breakfast or a green smoothie at Don Bonito Hotel (Rose Room is upstairs). My husband and son rented surf boards and had a one-hour lesson and then surfed the rest of the day. That night we went to dinner at La Rustica (wood fire pizzas) and had a great night! We walked everywhere!

Day 3

We ate lunch at a well-known (very causal) taco place called Talivan. Spent the day back on the beach (it was nice that our condo was on the beach so we could come in and out). Some rentals are way up on the hill, so double check your location if you want easy beach access. There's a neighborhood at the end of North beach that has gorgeous rental homes but many are high up on the cliff or even a jungle/cliff. Then, we had dinner at Barracuda (seafood) while we watched street entertainment. We walked around the town and went into many shops before dinner. Bring cash (pesos) because the cash machines were not working and many vendors prefer cash over credit card. We also went on many beach walks. The North end of the beach is quiet and has beautiful homes, one being, casasayulita (look up on insta). You will love the beautiful details (and it's a rental as well). It's a well-known Chicago designer, Summer Thorton's, rental beach house.

Day 4

We went to yoga at Los Suenos Hotel (great yoga space and lots of classes). You can pay a little extra, stay after and have a wonderful mexican breakfast buffet. This is a cute boutique hotel close to the beach. After another day at the beach we went to Achara (thai food). We highly recommend this place (limited seating so make a reservation). The Panang Currry and Spring Rolls are so tasty.Again, everything is very walkable from one end of town to the other.

Day 5

We walked to the Secret Beach at the south end of Sayulita. It's now more crowded and populated than it used to be. During our walk home, we stopped at many of the local market booths where you can find local souvenirs. We purchased some beloved treasures! We had a late breakfast at Chana (a creative kitchen) and ordered pizza for dinner from Pizza Venezia (across from our condo). We took the pizza to the beach and watched the sunset. And then we had rolled ice cream from the pink ice cream taco truck on a side street near our condo.

Day 6

We jumped in a car and rode 10 min away to San Pancho. We loved this area and were bummed to find it on the last night. We would have spent more time there. We had cocktails while watching the sunset, walked around the cute shops, saw lots of great places to eat... Wish we would've known about Tierra Tropical Beach Club. We met a couple who had spent the day there for $25/per person. We'll have to visit next time.

Anything you would add or do differently?

  • We would have explored the hike on the north end of the beach that leads you to another "secret" beach. Our driver told us all about on our way home. Also, next time, I would like to rent a house on the very North end of the beach.
